Gum recession coverage
Treating gum recession for the health and appearance of your smile.
Gum recession, or exposed roots, can cause tooth sensitivity, affect the appearance of your smile and make brushing more difficult, which in turn can lead to gum inflammation.
Treatment of these areas of recession is carried out through surgery under simple local anaesthesia, aiming to increase the volume of gum tissue and cover the exposed area(s).
Today, tunnelling microsurgery techniques can resolve many situations without incisions.
The gum tissue used is taken from the back of the palate or from the gum near the wisdom tooth, as this area is very rich in collagen. After 2 weeks, the donor site has healed, and it regains its original volume within 1 to 2 months.
