Endodontic retreatment
When a previously treated tooth shows a persistent or recurring infection.
An endodontic retreatment is a procedure carried out when a tooth that has already had an endodontic treatment (root canal) develops new problems, such as a persistent or recurring infection around the root.
This can happen if the initial treatment did not eliminate all of the infection, if a new problem has arisen (fracture, decay, etc.), or if the material used has degraded over time.
The procedure is similar to an initial endodontic treatment but technically more complex, as it involves removing the old filling materials and correcting any errors made during the previous treatment.
