Apexification
Stabilising a tooth whose root has not fully formed.
Apexification is a treatment performed on a tooth whose root has not fully formed, often due to a problem that occurred during growth, such as deep decay or an impact. In these cases, the tip of the root (called the "apex") remains open, which can leave the tooth fragile and exposed to infection.
A specific product is used to help the tooth form a kind of "natural barrier" at the tip of the root. This helps stabilise the tooth and protect it against infection, while preserving as much of the tooth structure as possible. This treatment is mainly used to save young teeth.
